ABOUT US

My name is Giana Gleeson and I am a Spanish and History Teacher at the Law and Government Academy at Hartford Public High School in Hartford, Connecticut. Just four short years ago I was a senior in college when I was invited to attend the 11th World Summit of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates in Hiroshima, Japan. As one of only four U.S. students invited to the conference, I had the honor of meeting and working with some of the most influential people and organizations in the fields of peace building and human rights. At the closing of the conference we teamed up with some members of the Japanese youth to deliver a Final Declaration on Behalf of the World's Youth to the Nobel Laureates. In this declaration we urged Nobel Laureates to provide the youth of the world with a clear path to participate in the conversations and activism for human rights and peace. We demanded that youth involvement is crucial to create sustainable peace for the future.

They listened.

Last year, Taylor Ives, the behavior technician at the Nursing Academy at Hartford Public High School, and I teamed up to bring 5 Hartford Public High students to the 13th World Summit of Nobel Laureates in Warsaw, Poland. You can read all about this here:

Our students made such an impact on the Laureates and organizing committee that we have been asked to return again, but this time to the 14th Summit in Cape Town, South Africa.

Taylor and I have selected 6 exceptional students to head to Cape Town. They will work with the Nobel Peace Laureates, leaders of various organizations, and youth from other nations to unpack the current state of our world and learn how to cultivate peace in our local, national, and global community.

Taylor and I have seen how transformational this expereince has been for us and for our students. We know that this is what they deserve and we believe wholheartedly in their ability to use this experience as a catalyst for their future.

Please join us in giving our students what they deserve so that ultimately, they can work to give our world what it deserves: Peace.
